What should I wear for a surf lesson?

For a surf lesson, it’s essential to wear comfortable surf wear that stays securely in place during your session. We strongly recommend the following:

UV Rashie: This is crucial for protecting your skin from the intense Bali sun, especially during midday when the sun is at its strongest. It provides excellent coverage and minimizes the risk of sunburn.

Wetsuit Top: During the dry season, the water temperature in Bali can be colder, especially during early morning surf lessons. We suggest wearing a 2 mm wetsuit top to keep you warm and comfortable in the water.

Surf Hat: Don’t forget to add a surf hat to your outfit. It not only offers protection from the sun but also shields your face, reducing fatigue during and after your surf session.

How are surf conditions in Bali during different seasons?

Bali experiences two distinct seasons: dry and wet.

Dry Season: In the dry season, both the air and water temperatures are cooler. We typically see larger swells rolling in during this period. Along the West coast, especially around Uluwatu, we benefit from favorable offshore winds.

Wet Season: During the wet season, Bali sees a higher volume of rain, but this doesn’t deter surfers. The air and water temperatures rise, creating a warmer environment. While waves may be smaller during this time, the West coast can have onshore winds. Occasionally, we venture to the East coast for better offshore wind conditions.

Regardless of the season, Bali offers opportunities for enjoyable surfing experiences all year round.

Can I choose the surf spot or is it pre-determined?

Whether you can choose the surf spot or if it’s pre-determined is a decision we make collaboratively before your lesson. While we value your preferences, our ultimate choice takes into account factors such as surf conditions, weather, and your skill level. Our goal is to ensure you’re both safe and experiencing the best possible conditions tailored to your level of expertise. Therefore, it’s important to be honest about your abilities so we can make the most suitable selection for you.

If you’re a confident surfer seeking surf guiding services, you’ll have more flexibility and options to choose from.

Do I need to bring my own sunscreen and water?

Yes, please! Bring your own sunscreen, face zinc and water.

We highly encourage the use of environmentally friendly sunscreens and zinc products when enjoying the ocean. It’s important to be aware that numerous zincs and sunscreens available in the market contain harmful chemicals that can have detrimental effects on coral reefs and marine ecosystems. Fortunately, there’s a wide selection of reef-safe and eco-friendly alternatives readily available. By opting for these products, not only can you protect your skin from harsh chemicals, but you can also play a vital role in preserving the health and vitality of our local surf spots and marine habitats.

Is there a secure place to store personal belongings?

We typically recommend leaving your personal belongings in local warungs while you’re out surfing. While it’s generally a safe practice, we advise against bringing any valuable items, just as a precaution. Please understand that we cannot guarantee the security of your belongings, and it’s always best to err on the side of caution in this regard.
